I just picked a King Kutter XB sub-soiler from my Fleet Farm Store. I ordered it through them from KK and waited 6 weeks for delivery. I wanted it to loosen soil/gravel in the "backyard". Now for the "OOOPS!" It is for a sub-compact tractor.
Want to see it? - go here ---> http://www.kingkutter.com/XBProducts.asp?XBProd=MiddleBuster)
I knew it was for a sub-compsct when I bought the XB as their other version seemed to be "overkill" for my needs and my JD 2210 when I saw it at the store. Now I realize that the XB-SUB Compact model does not have Cat 1 draw-bar spacing for my I-Match hitch (though it has Cat 1 pins)! 19" vs 26" (I know: Measure twice - Cut once!!)
So do I sell this unit or can I just buy a Cat 1 draw bar and weld the XB sub soiler to it? The vertical spacing looks OK for the I-match and will fit the top link even if I drop the hitch.
OR, will the JD 2210 lower arms go close enough together to hold this tool?
As a "newbie" I get into the tractor sections at stores and feel a rush come over me! I really would like to make this thing work, but is my plan, (how would you say) - Stupid!!?

If it were me, I'd take off the iMatch and hook the XB subsoiler directly to the 3 point hitch. Your arms will pull in that much and mounting directly to the 3 point may even be better. A sub-soiler can be pretty aggressive at times depending on its us. ....

I'll drop the hitch and see if the arms come in that much. Your point about the sub-soiler being agressive makes sense to me.
Thanks for the advice.

I bought the KK standard size version of their middle-buster last month for my JD4115. My I-match won't fit it. I haven't found a KK implement that will fit my I-Match yet! So I have to use it, and my KK rock rake, direct off the draft arms without the I-match. Also, the standard version of the KK middlebuster does not include the extra subsoiler blade. I've been using the middlebuster to dig trenches to plant treelings and it works good at full depth (advertised at 14"). I don't know why KK doesn't make their implements to match the I-match. ....

AKANAPA, Not having the sub soiler blabe is another reason I went with the XB models - it comes with both. It's too bad the regular version doesn't fit the I-Match hitch either. I'll try to get mine to work this weekend. ....
